The product and why we use it
FileMaker Pro is a widely available desktop software application for Macs and PCs that’s used to build bespoke applications and run them. Often FileMaker Pro is referred to as a “database” but in reality it has far greater capabilities than simply storing data. Indeed its backbone is a solid relational database but in addition it has: powerful layout creation tools for a rich user experience, inbuilt script construction and a powerful calculation engine and function pallet allowing limitless possibilities in bespoke software design. Coupled with its ability to integrate seamlessly with pretty much any other data source (from Excel spreadsheets to Oracle 9g/10g, SQL and MySQL databases) across local or wide area networks - and its almost instant deployment to the web clearly makes this a powerful tool.
So we really love its features, but what we like most of all is its ability to create solutions in a fraction of the time compared to most software development tools. And that’s what we think you’ll like it too.
